Vessels of Discipleship

Vessels Ministry Fishers of Men (Ricorocks)Jesus began his ministry by calling his first Disciples. Scripture tells us ~ “while walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you, fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. Mathew 4:18-20 The followers of Christ are identified as his disciples in Mathew 5:1 ~ prior to Christ teaching his Sermon on the Mount. “Seeing the crowds, “he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.” Christ further describes the status of a Disciple in Mathew 10: 24 when he says, “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.” As his disciples, Ephesians 5:1 tells us we are to “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

As Jesus called his disciples they immediately left their nets and followed him. As vessels of discipleship how precious is the calling of Jesus!
