JOY – “The Celestial Fruit”
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11)
– Un-Wrapping the Gift of Joy
Joy is not the same as Happiness.
Joy is internal and is a gift from God. (2Corinthians 5:17)
Spurgeon has called Joy a “celestial fruit and earth cannot produce its like. When we are joyful, or full of joy, and that of the best kind, we are favored, indeed! No man takes this joy from us and a stranger meddles not with it”.
(Spurgeon Sermon #1582, February 6, 1881)
So how do we un-wrap this “Celestial Fruit”?
LOVE, Belief, Rejoice (1Peter 1:8)
Belief in God (Romans 15:13)
God’s Word (John 15:11)
Praising God (Psalm 150:6)
Ask (John 16:24)
Rejoice in the Day (Psalm 118:24)
The Angels have Joy (Luke 15:10)
Happiness is good but based on externals, is temporary, and can be lost ~
Joy is deeply internal and cannot be taken away ~ Seek Joy ~
