God so totally loves us all, but what would it be like to be someone that so totally pleased him, to find his favor, and to absolutely win the heart of God.
Scripture tells us that David was such a man.
A Man after God’s Own Heart
“…The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart….. (1 Samuel 13:14)
So what was so special about David? David was not perfect. In fact, his life was a portrait of success and failure.
David had…Absolute Faith
“And David said, The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” (1 Samuel 12:37)
David…Loved God’s Word
“for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statues.” (Psalm 119:47-48)
“…proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your wondrous deeds.” (Psalm 26:7)
“Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love,
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin!” (Psalm 51: 1-2)
There were many things that God loved about David but when you read the Psalm you realize….more than anything, David loved to talk to God.. And not just talk, but he had real conversations.
David Talked To God…… God likes that.
