As a child I grew up listening to stories taught from the Bible in Sunday School. I learned about God and the Creation of the Earth, the Heavens, the Sun, Moon and Stars, Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, the Serpent Satan, the Tree of Good and Evil, Cain and Able, Noah and the Ark, the Animals of Two, the Rain and the Rainbow, Abraham, Sarah and Isaac, Jacob and Esau and the soup, Jacob’s ‘Ladder, Isaac and Rebekah, Joseph and his coat of many colors, Joseph’s Dreams, Joseph’s Brothers, Joseph in Eqypt and the Famine that brought his family to Eqypt.
It never occurred to me that these stories were not anything but truth. There was a God and He loved me. I never once doubted God’s Word. (My biggest concern was trying to understand how I could ever love God more than my Mother.) I said my prayers at night – “Now I lay me down to sleep – I pray the Lord my soul to keep – If I should die before I wake – I pray the Lord my soul to take.” I said Grace at mealtime – “God is Great – God is Good – Let us the thank Him for our food – by his hand we all are fed – Give us Lord our Daily Bread” – Amen. I was Saved, I was Baptized, I was a Christian, and life was good.
It wasn’t until I was in my late twenties that I even heard the word Atheist. I met my first Atheist in the workplace. Bob, and I considered Bob a friend of mine. I liked Bob and he seemed nice enough. Bob even looked like an ordinary guy. Bob just didn’t talk a lot. So I naturally assumed it was because Bob was an Atheist. We never discussed that fact. Honestly, I simply could not wrap my head around how anybody could not believe in God. That was in 1979. I was so naïve and oh my goodness it has become amazingly clear how a worldview has changed. I now wonder if Bob ever heard any Bible stories. As I mentioned, we didn’t talk about our beliefs. I did mention that Bob was a friend of mine. So how many other beloved people – like Bob – do you think never heard about Genesis, or the stories of truth taught in Sunday School. The many Bible stories that would build out and bind their faith?
I am of the very strong opinion that Genesis is perhaps the most important book of the Bible. Without knowledge and belief in the Book of Genesis the remaining Books in the Bible are seemingly pointless. Genesis sets the entire foundation for all of God’s Word and biblical history. Genesis is more than a religion, more than a denominational faith , more than a fairy tale. Genesis is a documented history of truth that even children understand. ~ Amen: Y

It is my belief that the theories of Darwinism have done much to damage the truth of God in Genesis by creating doubt and unbelief in the minds of our children. It is of great Significance how the truth of God and His creation can unfold in the simplicity of belief through the remembrance of stories in the mind of a child. God assures us that His Word does not return void, and although it is not our purpose to “save souls” – that is God’s job. It is our purpose to share His Word in discipleship. I still think about Bob –
Isaiah 55:10-12King James Version (KJV)
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
