“Those People”

Vessels Ministry - Choosing Words

Have you ever met “those people” who just love to stir up dissension in relationships. Those people who just don’t seem capable of getting along with others? They are only happy when they are creating discord and spreading their vile virus to others? Have you met “those people”?

Do you even think those people know that petty argument, that little “white lie”, that “off color” remark, and those gossipy schemes to slander another’s character are really worth putting a relationship with God at risk?   It is no wonder James describes their passions as crazed. One would have to be crazed to do those things. Don’t you agree?

Do you know “those people”?

Are you getting close and personal with God or creating distance?

God loves us but God really hates sin. That bears repeating. God hates sin; he hates every sin; he can never be reconciled to it; he hates nothing but sin. But there are some sins which he does in a special manner hate; and all those here mentioned are such as are injurious to our neighbor…..and our own selves.

Proverbs 6:16 – 19

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him:

Haughty eyes,

a lying tongue,

and hands that shed innocent blood

a heart that devises wicked plans,

feet that make haste to run to evil,

a false witness who breathes out lies,

and one who sows discords among brothers. Wow ~ just take a moment and soak that in.

I don’t know about you but the words hate and abomination are rather harsh words.. Don’t you think?     I mean when a God who is Love expresses things he hates; that gets my attention real fast. And what about the use of the word abomination? We don’t use that word too much in today’s culture but God speaks it; well over one hundred forty times in the Bible. God speaks of abomination.  God lets us know the things he finds detestable and hostile. Today we would call it disgusting or outrageous.

Do you really want to take part in anything that disgusts God?

Did you know those things are hostile to God?

Do you really want to be an enemy of God? Do you Really?

James speaks to us in very clear terms just what God thinks about the actions of “those people”.

James 4

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “he yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he is who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

I don’t know about you, but I just love God so much. I want to please him and be the best daughter I can be. I want to imitate what He likes. I certainly don’t what to fight with God, and I certainly don’t want to do the things he finds so disgusting. So the words that captured my attention were the spirit words ~ “he yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us.”

Are you grieving the Spirit of God?

Ephesians 4:29 – 30

Let not corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers

And grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

What words are you are speaking about others? Are you ministering Grace or Discord?

It is not a wonder that God blesses the peacemakers and calls them his children. (Mathew 5:9)

God identifies himself closely with peacemakers. He knows it can be a really difficult job to work with “those people” and you really do need the right relationship. One would need a close and right relationship to effectively handle “those people”. It requires His supernatural strength.

As God’s child; I desire to be an obedient daughter. I want to bring honor to Him in my actions, in my words, and in my deeds. I want to Honor my Father in every possible way. To believe and act on His word would bring us closer in relationship and we can become His friend; not his enemy. I want to be God’s friend ~ don’t you?  (James 2:23)

As children of God and as friends of God, let’s pray earnestly for “those people”….. they must be crazed in the darkness. Let’s pray them into the Light and into a close relationship with God. ~ Amen: Y
