Conversations with God ~ No Turning Back

"One Way Bridge"

“One Way Bridge”

“After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.”
(John 6:66)

“Many of these early disciples were not genuine disciples of Christ, for they turned back. Their initial “faith” was not genuine and they were perhaps following Jesus only because of the physical benefits he gave, such as healing and multiplying food.” ~ ESV

To a believer and true follower of Christ “666” is a chilling number, and the Gospel of John provides us with an equally chilling comparison in the number and the verse. How chilling would it be to engage in fellowship and following our Lord one day, and then the next day simply “turn away”. It seems incomprehensible, and leads one deeply mystified in understanding this truth. But it happens. It happened in the day of our Lord, it’s happening now, and for those who turn, as well as those betrayed, “the turning” creates the deepest of wounds.

Even in the day of Oswald Chambers there was a distinct and noticeable “turning away”, as he expressed in My Utmost for His Highest, “Many people today are pouring their lives out and working for Jesus Christ, but are not really walking with Him.” And Jesus explains why, “It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is not help at all. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe”. (John 6:63, 64)

So then Jesus asked his disciples, the twelve, this question…

”Do you also want to go away”? (John 6:67)

Let our devotion and heart response be spontaneously and emphatically ~ NO…NEVER
“Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt;” (Jude 23:21, 22)
~ Amen :Y

Journey to Joy ~ The Gift of the Word

The Gift of the Word

The Joy of the Word

“These things I have spoken to you, that my Joy may be in you, and that your Joy may be full.”(John 15:11)

If it were at all possible to paint a picture of our Savior with words it would be the Gospel of John. In reading this Gospel it is impossible not to feel with pounding heart ~HIS Joy. The imagery of HIM is breathtaking ~

“The “Beloved Disciple” shares with us ~ “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
(John 1:1)

The sheer Joy in this sentence creates a breathtaking pause ~ be still in HIS Joy!
Spend as long as you like here ~ these are the Green Pastures ~ and move all so slowly to the promise of His full Joy in chapter 15 verse eleven….
So what are “these things” that Jesus has spoken, for the word of the Word is so rich, so precious.   His words are full gems and with caution are only the nuggets shared. Journey directly into HIS Joy ~ find fullness in Him.

Precious Heavenly Father, thank you for the breathtaking gift of The Word. How so indescribable you are that we breathlessly gasp at your Majestic Glory. How beautifully you speak it into being…”And God said, Let there be light”, and there was light”.
(Genesis 1:3)

Thank you for the Word, the Light, and the fullness of Joy we can find only in you.
Lord, help me to remember the power of my own words so that I may carefully choose and speak them.

The secret of Joy ~ Our relationship with Jesus.
