“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And do not lean on your own understanding,
In all your ways acknowledge him,
And he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Do you struggle to place your complete trust in God? Throughout scripture we are compelled to place our trust in the Lord. There is irony in the fact that God knows we need to be encouraged to trust Him. But then God does know us better than we know ourselves. Think about it, throughout scripture we are encouraged to place our Trust in the one who created us. The one who created all things, yet our tendency is to defer to our own understanding, or the understanding of others of how things should be.
So why is it so difficult to let go and let God? Many commentaries would say our trust lies in more; more knowing, more belief, more faith, more gratitude, more obedience, more patience, more prayer, and more desire of God’s will. Perhaps so ~ perhaps we do require more of all those blessings. But, Scripture also tells us the secret lives within, and all we need is already there. So maybe, just for now, we don’t need more, but simply acknowledging that which we already have. We have the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. That acknowledgement alone can then release the pressure of our decisions to God, and he can handle it perfectly. We can trust in that ~ as the Holy Spirit grows us in the more.
God can make something beautiful in my life, your life, but he needs our trust in Him to do it. ~ Amen: Y
